Two Top Peru Boutique Hotels

Peru is fortunate to have many options for hotels from really cheap backpacker hostels to 5 star luxury hotels. It also has some boutique types of offerings that provide something a little more special than the typical experience.

Taking advantage of one of these boutique Peru hotels can transform what is already an incredible vacation into a trip of a lifetime.

The following two examples offer not only beautiful lodgings in themselves but are also set in lovely natural surroundings. They provide great places for relaxation that doesn't end when you walk outside the doors. Both are situated close to tourist attractions that you will want to take advantage of on your trip to this country.

Ticllabamba, Yucay, Sacred Valley
Most people visiting Peru will be planning a visit to Cusco and the surrounding area. Not only is this the jumping off point for going to Machu Picchu, there are many places to visit in the city itself as well as the nearby Sacred Valley. Staying in the Sacred Valley when you first arrive to this region can be a good choice as it is lower than the city of Cusco and, therefore, makes it easier to acclimate to the altitude.

Ticllabamba isn't just a very special boutique accommodation in the Sacred Valley, it's also the home of ex-model Susy Dyson. Located in Yucay, a small village between the larger pueblos of Pisac and Urubamba, it is believed to have been a former royal estate, belonging to a daughter of the Inca ruler, Huayna Capac. Indeed, you will feel like royalty yourself staying at this location with Susy and her staff looking after you.

Truly an exclusive type of homestay, there are just two rooms available on the property, one with a king bed and the other with two double beds, both with private bathrooms. Additional amenities include a cold-water pool, Jacuzzi and outdoor sauna. Accommodations come with breakfast, a light dinner and honor bar included.

The grounds are quite lovely, particularly as they include terracing in the shape of the chakana or cruz andina. Despite this being one of the most important symbols of the Inca civilization, this is the only location in the Sacred Valley that features terracing in this shape. The gardens and the vistas of the surrounding valley all combine to offer a getaway that you won't soon forget.
Inka Terra, Machu Picchu

Despite there being so many tourists overnighting at Machu Picchu Pueblo, formerly known as Aguas Calientes, there are not many options in terms of lodging type. There are a wide number of lower budget hostels that are pretty similar in nature. Then there are a couple of luxury lodgings. Not much exists in the moderate range. Therefore, if you are going to splurge during your Peruvian vacation, this is one of the best locations to do so.

And, if you are going to go for luxury, you can't do better than the Inka Terra. The rooms here are individual casitas or villas, allowing for a truly private and intimate feel. Each features fireplaces, sitting space, spa style bathrooms and more. Butler service is available around the clock and an on-site spa and world-class restaurant assure you that you need not leave your retreat unless you so desire.

While the accommodations themselves are well worth a visit, something that makes staying here feel even more like a trip to paradise are the gardens and trails that are part of the hotel. Without leaving the grounds, you can learn about the cloud forest and the plants and animals within it. In particular, you can view a wide variety of birds and orchids, as well as take a break in the teahouse. To make the most out of your visit, plan to arrive early the day before you plan to go to Machu Picchu and then stay an additional night.
